808: Sweet E's Cafe

Updated: Jul 4, 2022

So my Uncle has deferred his dentist appointment just to food venture with me, and I'm glad I took the folks to Sweet E's cafe cause it did not disappoint. Based on a review I read on Instagram, a foodie claimed that they make the best banana french toast. Sure enough, their french toasts were pretty impressive!

When we arrived at 11:00 am, there was already a small line at the door. It was also difficult to find parking in their tiny parking lot. However, we have determined that all the trouble would soon be worthwhile when we saw the stickers at the door with bold statements such as "Hawaii's Best 2016, 2018" and "Neighborhood Favourite".

We were seated at the outdoor patio and we ordered the following:

BLT SANDWICH:

💵 Price: $10.95

🤤Taste: 4.8 /5

Description: Bacon, Mixed Greens, Tomato, Provolone cheese with a ranch aioli

Thoughts: The sandwiches were toasted with a lot of butter so it was ultra crunchy and buttery. I opted out of the provolone cheese but the sandwich still tasted like a champ. The fillings were generously filled with crispy bacon strips, green leaves, and ranch sauce. This was a hearty sandwich that really hit the spot.

STUFFED FRENCH TOASTS:

We ordered a single toast for all the flavors on the menu under 'the Extras' because we wanted to try everything. They were both scrumptious but between the two, we both preferred the Banana French Toast.

💵 Price: $4.25 for one || $10.95 / 3 Blueberry Cream Cheese || $9.95 / 3 Banana

🤤Taste: 4.8 /5

Thoughts:

Banana stuffed French Toast: loaded with cooked banana with a little bit of rum I believe. The banana was cooked until ripped but not mushy. We liked that it had the right amount of sweetness and we didn't even need to add syrup to it.

Cream Cheese Blueberry: This was loaded with cream cheese and a few cooked blueberries. Again, it wasn't too sweet and we also omitted the syrup.

EVERYDAY BREAKFAST:

💵 Price: $11

🤤Taste: 4.3 /5

Description: Two Eggs Any Style, Choice of one Meat, choice of one Starch or one Pancake.

Thoughts: The hashbrowns are shredded potatoes and it wasn't soggy. They were ultra crispy. My uncle chose the sourdough bread and the interior was soft and the exterior was toasted perfectly. I didn't try the omelet but my uncle said it was really good.

As I always say, a good brunch makes this world a better place and we are so glad to have discovered this place!
